No, it isn’t “also known as the Maybach,” it’s not a Maybach. It’s an S600. And with those dirty monoblocks, two bar tail lights, and opaque headlights, it’s a pre-facelift powered by an M137. You say NADA is $7,000, I disagree. If it really is in as good of shape as he says, it’s a $3,500 time bomb waiting to oval the cylinder bores and warp the heads.
Just bought a new one and there’s no need for two? Right there I know he’s full of crap. Once you own one, you want to fill your garage with them.
In summary, what a maroon.

Most likely paddle shifters or +/- buttons on the steering wheel

Neither! The gear stick moves side to side when it’s in drive!

What’s the bottom end of price for these things? Salvage title or no, unless it’s well and truly wrecked i gotta figure there’s over 3 grand in sellable parts on a car like that.

Oh, parts value is always going to be huge. This is about the bottom end, but that’s because this one has the wrong engine. An S600 like mine is actually maintainable after enough major systems have been replaced. These 5.8L 01-02 models are just hopeless uphill battles until the engine destroys itself.
But the interior, computer components, etc. Sum of its sellable parts, I’d say it’s worth maybe $10,000.

Define your terms.

How costly/stupid/doable would an engine swap on a W220 be on a scale from 0-10?

Another Mercedes engine, like a M113 5.0? Probably doable if you pull the engine out of a junked S500. Then you just have to get the right ECU and an ABC tandem pump for that engine.
An LS ALL THE THINGS swap? I would not recommend trying to make make an American engine jive with that vehicle management network. And you’d have to so coil-overs all around unless you want to make you self a custom serpentine setup.

Ouch. The W220 sounds like a major PITA. I thought of a V8 from the S55 or W221 S63 but that would be more expensive than to just get a S55.

Also known as The Maybach... Not just any Maybach, but THE MAYBACH. Young drivers must stay away. Also, it’s a fucking salvage title, because of course it is. What a heap...

There are tens of thousands of reasons why people don’t engine swap Mercedes very often. And most of those reasons have the faces of dead presidents on them.
